Iscar IC848: the maker lists IC9015 as its successor
ISCAR puts Iscar IC9015 against IC848 in its own catalogue material. We publish the pair only because the maker published it; the source is below.
What the maker's document shows
IC848 → IC9015 · KNUX profiling turning inserts
The product update states: KNUX inserts listed below are available in the new grade IC9015. These inserts replace the existing items in the old grade IC848.

A successor listing is not a discontinuation notice. This 1999 update covers KNUX profiling inserts only.
What this does and does not mean
It means the maker positions IC9015 as the newer grade for the work IC848 was used for. It does not say IC848 is discontinued, and it does not say every insert shape and chipbreaker you buy in IC848 exists in IC9015.
Before you switch:
- Check that your exact insert designation and chipbreaker are offered in IC9015 in the maker's current catalogue.
- Start from the maker's recommended cutting speed for IC9015, not the numbers you ran with IC848.
- Run both grades until the edge is worn out on the same part and compare parts per edge. One part is not a result.
