Straightness
Limits how far a line or axis may bow away from a perfectly straight line.
In the shop
On long, slender parts straightness is mostly a deflection and clamping problem. Support the part (steady rest or tailstock), keep the length-to-diameter ratio in check and take the finishing cut light.
