Every major tool maker now ships an AI assistant. Each one is trained on, and paid for by, a single catalogue. That is not dishonest, it is just structural: an assistant built by a manufacturer answers from that manufacturer's shelf. We built the other kind. We sell no inserts, take no placement fees, and reason across brands, which changes what the answer is allowed to say.
A manufacturer's assistant is a good tool with a fixed boundary. It knows its own grades in real depth, often better than anyone outside the company, and it will give you a competent answer inside that catalogue. What it structurally cannot do is tell you that the right insert for your job is the one a competitor makes, or that the grade you are already running is fine and the real problem is your setup.
That boundary matters most in exactly the moments that cost money: when you are choosing between two vendors, when a price increase makes you re-open a settled tooling decision, or when a failure is being blamed on a grade that was never the cause. An independent answer is not automatically better, but it is allowed to reach a conclusion that costs a manufacturer a sale.
We are not neutral because we are virtuous. We are neutral because nothing in our revenue depends on which brand you buy.
These are the recurring questions where the boundary shows. The point is not that a maker's assistant gives a wrong answer, it is that its answer has a floor it cannot go below.

A page arguing for neutrality that never concedes anything is just an advertisement. Three places where a manufacturer beats us outright, and you should go to them instead:
Proprietary geometry detail. Chipbreaker behaviour, substrate composition and coating architecture are the maker's own engineering. Their data on their own product is deeper than anything a cross-reference can reconstruct, and we do not pretend otherwise.
Field data at volume. A large manufacturer sees the same operation run in thousands of shops. That evidence base is real and we cannot match it from public sources.
An application engineer standing at your machine. Someone watching the cut, hearing the chatter and touching the chip will beat any remote answer, ours included. If a supplier offers that, take it.
What we do is narrower and, we think, missing from the market: reason across the whole field, say plainly when a match is not verifiable, and never let a commercial interest decide the recommendation.
No manufacturer pays us. No placement fees, no affiliate links, no sponsored grades. We sell a subscription and paid reviews to the people asking the questions, which is the only party whose interest we want aligned with the answer.
Verified reference data, tiered by how well we know it. Cross-brand equivalences carry a verification level: single catalogue source, multi-source consensus, or confirmed on real parts. A single-source match is presented as a starting point, not a fact.
We do not invent grade codes. Low-frequency alphanumeric codes are exactly where general-purpose AI hallucinates most confidently. If an equivalence cannot be traced to a source, the answer says it cannot be verified rather than filling the gap.
Equivalent does not mean identical. Matching by ISO application position gets you to the right shelf, not the right box. Every recommendation ends the same way: validate the top candidate on a sample part before you switch production.
The fastest way to judge any tooling advisor is to ask it about a job you have already solved, then check whether the reasoning matches what actually happened on the floor. Give it the material, the operation, the machine and the constraint that is really binding, whether that is cycle time, surface finish, tool life or spindle power. Vague inputs produce vague answers from any system.
If the reasoning does not hold up, we would rather you find that out in two minutes than after a production run.
